Certain inspirational quotes stick in the mind and heart. But what happens when you have a favorite and cannot remember the exact words or who said it? Can the computer help?
A couple years ago I tried to look up what I remembered of it online and got nowhere. Then just this week, I typed in the same words, “Blessed is the bird who pauses in flight too slight yet sings, knowing he has wings.”
And ta-da! Here’s what came up:
“Be like the bird who, pausing in her flight awhile on boughs too slight, feels them give way beneath her, and yet sings, knowing she hath wings.” ―Victor Hugo
The search engine has certainly improved! I had no problem looking up other favorite quotes.
What better encouragement can you give someone than:
You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”― Kathryn Stockett, The Help
And what farewell can be better said than:
Live long and prosper.― Leonard Nimoy, Star Trek
Or:
Be well; do good work; and keep in touch.― Garrison Keeler, A Prairie Home Companion
Nevertheless, I also like:
May the Force be with you.― George Lucas, Star Wars
